San Marzano Plum Tomato
General Information
San Marzano Plum Tomatoes are a great addition to your vegetable garden. These organic, heirloom seeds are from Renees Garden seed company. These are vigorous, heavily bearing tomato plants. At 6 to 7 feet tall, they will need to be caged or provided with some form of support. The tomatoes are an elongated ‘plum’ style tomato and typically will weigh approximately 4 ounces at maturity. The bright red tomatoes have a rich flavor with a meaty consistency. They are great for eating fresh, making sauce or a variety of other culinary uses. Each seed packet will weigh .1 grams and contains 30 to 35 seeds.
Additional Information
Tomato seeds are typically best started indoors, around 6 to 8 weeks before nighttime temperatures remain above 50 degrees. They can then be transplanted from April to June in most areas. They should be planted at least 3 feet apart, to allow for full growth. The plants should begin to produce approximately 75 days after transplanting.
