General Information
Prairie Sun Black Eyed Susan is a very nice perennial plant. Perfect for borders, flower beds and a variety of other landscaping areas. This plant forms as a lower clump of leaves, with upright flower stems above. The leaves can be rather large, up to 7 inches long. They are bright green in color, with a rough and hairy texture. The flowers can grow fairly large in size, to 5 inches in diameter. The petals are light orange, tipped with bright yellow. The center disk is greenish-yellow in color. These flowers bloom from early summer, into the autumn. Removal of spent flowers will encourage later reblooming. Great for attracting butterflies!

Rudbeckia hirta ‘Prairie Sun’ grows to a height of 30 to 36 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 8. It tends to grow and flower best in full sunlight. Prairie Sun does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
