Butterfly Blue Pincushion is a perennial plant. It can be moderate in size, reaching 18 inches tall. This plant will form as a lower mound of foliage, with flowers held on stems above. Butterfly Blue Pincushion is a great choice for a variety of different landscaping areas. The leaves are somewhat fern-like in appearance and medium green in color. The pincushion-like flowers will bloom in abundance, from late spring through the summer. They will be a very attractive lavender-blue in color. These flowers are quite attractive to bees and butterflies!

Scabiosa columbaria ‘Butterfly Blue’ will be 12 to 18 inches tall, with a spread of 12 to 15 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 9. Butterfly Blue Pincushion tends to do best in full sunlight conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
