Description
Merrill Magnolia
General Information
The Merrill Magnolia forms a lovely, upright tree that is covered with masses of large, white flowers in spring. The Merrill is a hybrid between M. kobus and M. Stellata. These fragrant, starry shaped blooms are white with a blush of pink. This variety flowers at an early age. Bronze-green foliage emerges in spring and deepens to green as it matures. The cone shaped fruits that follow the flowers, ripen to red. However, the fruits are often absent. Merrill is a hardy magnolia that is a reliable bloomer for the Midwest. The flowering stems make beautiful cut flower arrangements. The Merrill Magnolia will make a stunning specimen tree for your lawn or landscape.
