Firewitch Dianthus
General Information
Firewitch Dianthus has silvery blue, evergreen foliage. Beautiful magenta pink blooms grace the top of the plant. The blooms have a spicy, clove like fragrance. Beautiful for cut flowers and dried flowers. The 2006 Perennial Plant of the Year. Common name: Cheddar Pinks. This lovely flower is native to the town of Cheddar Gorge, England, which is famous for its cheddar cheese.

Dianthus gratianopolitanus ‘Firewitch’ does best in Full Sun to Part Shade. It grow 7-8″ tall and spreads to a width of 12″. Plant in zones 3-11. Drought tolerant once established. Deer resistant. Attracts butterflies.

Plant in well drained soil. Wet roots make the plant susceptible to root rot. Deadhead for heavier flowering. Trim to keep plants tidy. Aphids, caterpillars and thrips can be problematic.
