Bing Cherry
General Information
Bing Cherry is a deciduous fruit tree. It can be taller in size, reaching upwards of 25 feet. This tree will have a nice rounded form at full maturity. It has a good deal of ornamental appeal, to go along with delicious fruits! The foliage is deep green in color, giving the tree a nice appearance through the growing seasons. Very ornamental clusters of bright white flowers in the springtime. The cherries will ripen to deep red, typically mid to late June. They are the standard for fresh eating, are great for preserves and have a variety of other uses. This tree will require a pollinating partner; Black Tartarian, Lapins or Sweetheart are great choices.
Additional Information
Prunus avium ‘Bing’ will be 15 to 25 feet tall, with a spread of 18 to 24 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 9. Bing tends to do best if planted in full sun conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
