Black Tartarian Cherry

General Information

Black Tartarian Cherry is a deciduous fruit tree. It can be larger in size, reaching up to 25 feet tall. This tree will generally have a rounded overall form. It will have nice ornamental appeal to go along with great fruit production. Attractive dark green foliage through the growing seasons. Abundant clusters of white flowers in the springtime. The cherries will mature to deep red in color, typically by mid to late June. They are great for fresh eating, preserves or a variety of other uses. Black Tartarian will require a pollinating partner, Lapins, Bing or Sweetheart are great choices.

Prunus avium ‘Black Tartarian’ will be 20 to 25 feet tall, with a generally similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 8. Black Tartarian Cherry tends to do best when planted in full sunlight. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
