Amur Flame Maple Shrub
General Information
The Amur Flame Maple is a delightful plant for your home landscape. This particular plant grows in a multi-stemmed shrub form. It has a number of delightful ornamental qualities. In the springtime, fragrant, greenish-yellow flowers cover the tree. Following this, 1 inch long samaras (winged seedpods) develop. They take on a red tint as they mature in the late summer to early fall. The tri-lobed leaves are deeply cut, with a glossy, deep green color. The leaves develop a brilliant, bright red color in the fall.
Additional Information
Acer ginnala ‘Flame’ grows to a height of 15 to 20 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 3 to 8. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Amur Flame Maple tends to grow best in well drained soils, with adequate amount of moisture. It can develop a good amount of drought tolerance once established. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
