Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is right around the corner, this corner to be exact. When I think back on all the things that my mom has done for me and is still doing for me, I think also of the ways in which she has influenced my life. When I go home, we walk and discuss the landscape, the fields, and her garden. I have become a great help to her with my degree and experiences in landscaping, but it was her who helped developed the interest in me for such things. She and dad both encouraged my brother and I in planting gardens and growing things. She let me cook in the kitchen and experiment with baking and jelly-making.

In recent years, I have supplied my mom with annual plantings, hanging baskets, and plants for her garden for Mother’s Day. Each year brings a new idea a joy in which ways to give back to my mom. By giving the gift of flowers, I am bringing delight and joy to her. This year, I will be giving her a lilac shrub, to replace some of her lilacs that died over the winter. She loves flowers almost as much as I do, and I know she will cherish the plants greatly.

So give the gift of flowers to your mom too, it is something she can treasure and cherish for multiple years to come.

Happy Planting!
