General Information

Dwarf Mugo Pine is an evergreen shrub. This pine shrub can eventually reach upwards of eight feet tall. It typically grows in a dense, upright and rounded overall fashion. The needles are about 1 to 2 inches long, generally growing in a dense, bottlebrush shape on the branches. They are a very attractive dark green color. Small brown pine cones will appear on female plants. The Dwarf Mugo Pine should be trimmed in late winter to keep a proper size.

Additional Information

Pinus mugo var. pumilio reaches a height of 5 to 8 feet, with a spread of 5 to 6 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 7. The Dwarf Mugo Pine tends to grow best in full sun conditions. It will grow well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
