Wild Senna – Native

General Information

Wild Senna is a native perennial plant. It has a native range of the eastern half of the United States. This plant will grow in tall, upright fashion. It has good ornamental appeal, working well in a variety of different landscaping areas. The leaves will grow in generally palm-like fashion with smaller leaflets making up the leaf. The individual oval shaped leaves have an attractive grey-green color. The Wild Senna will have clusters of flowers blooming in the mid to late summer. The flowers will bloom yellow, before fading to white. These flowers are great for attracting bees and other pollinators.

Additional Information

Senna hebecarpa reaches 4 to 6 feet tall, with a general spread of 24 to 30 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8. Wild Senna can grow well in full to part sun conditions. It will do well with average to moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
