Prairie Fire Dogwood

General Information

Prairie Fire Dogwood is a deciduous shrub. It is of moderate size, reaching 5 feet tall and wide at maturity. This dogwood has a good deal of ornamental appeal, making it a great choice for a variety of landscaping areas. The Prairie Fire Dogwood will have creamy white flower clusters in the late spring. Berries follow, maturing to white in midsummer. The foliage emerges golden in color, turning yellow to chartreuse over the summer. The leaves will be a very attractive red in the fall. The stems of the Prairie Fire Dogwood will be a beautiful reddish-orange in the late fall to winter months.

Additional Information

Cornus alba ‘Prairie Fire’ will be 4 to 5 feet tall, with a similar width. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 7. Prairie Fire Dogwood can grow in full to part sunlight conditions. It will do well with average amounts of moisture in well draining soils.
