Double Take Pink Storm Quince
General Information
Double Take Pink Storm Quince is a great shrub that will fit well in many different areas of your landscape. It is a smaller size plant, allowing it to be placed in many different spaces. It provides great spring color to borders and beds, used in group planting or even containers. An added benefit to this ornamental quince is that it is entirely thornless and fruitless, removing any sort of issues the quince may normally have. It grows in a dense, generally rounded fashion. The leaves are moderate in size, growing in an oval to oblong fashion. They have a glossy appearance and have a dark green color in the growing season, with no appreciable fall color. The flowers are 2 inch wide, fragrant double blooms appearing in abundance. They have a stunning pink color, appearing mid-spring.
Additional Information
Chaenomeles ‘Pink Storm’ grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Pink Storm grows best in average, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture. It can adapt to a variety of conditions. The foliage can be susceptible to fungal leaf spot, along with fire blight and scab. The flower buds can take damage from frosts. These plants can be trimmed lightly after flowering has ended. They bloom on old wood, so for best flowering it is best to not cut back too severely.
