Summer Beauty Ornamental Onion is a great perennial plant. It has a great deal of ornamental appeal that is perfect for many sunny areas of your landscape. It forms as a nice clump of foliage that stays nice and upright, with flower heads held atop. The leaves are quite narrow, with a nice glossy green color that holds well throughout the growing seasons. With brushed or crushed, the leaves do emit an onion aroma. The rounded, approximately 2 inch, flowers are light lavender in color. They tend to bloom from mid to late summer. The flowers are great for attracting butterflies and other pollinators!

Allium lusitanicum ‘Summer Beauty’ grows to a height of 18 to 24 inches, with a spread of 12 to 18 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9. Summer Beauty tends to grow and flower best in full sunlight. They grow well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Exhibits good drought tolerance once established.
