Description

Spilled Wine Weigela

General Information

Spilled Wine Weigela is an ornamental deciduous shrub.  It is of smaller size, growing upwards of 3 feet tall and wide.  This size and ornamental appeal make it perfect for a variety of landscaping areas.  The foliage is dark purple in color, with lime green veining.  It holds this nice color all through the growing season.  The flowers are tubular in shape, and are deep pink in color.  They bloom in abundance on the previous years growth, from mid spring to early summer.  There is sporadic rebloom on new growth thereafter.  The flowers are great for attracting hummingbirds!

Additional Information

Weigela florida ‘Bokraspiwi’ grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  It tends to do best when planted in full sunlight.  Spilled Wine does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
