General Information
Sonic Bloom Red Weigela is a great plant that could fit well in many different areas of your landscape. It is a moderate sized shrub, growing to 6 feet tall and wide. This plant could be used in a border, in a landscape area or to great visual appeal in a mass planting. It grows as a multi-stemmed shrub, in an upright mounded fashion. The foliage is oval in shape and slightly cupped, with a nice medium green color. This foliage provides a great accent for the spectacular flowers of this shrub. These flowers are trumpet shaped and about 1 to 2 inches long. They have a bright red color, appearing in May and reblooming from summer until the first frost in the fall. These flowers bloom profusely, creating a great sight in your landscape. Hummingbirds are very attracted to these flowers.
Additional Information
Weigela florida ‘Verweil4’ grows to a height of 4 to 6 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 8. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Sonic Bloom Red grows best in well drained soils with average amounts of moisture. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
