Description

Purple Pillar Hibiscus

General Information

Purple Pillar Hibiscus is a deciduous shrub.  It is a taller shrub, to 16 feet tall, but only up to 3 feet wide.  This unusual shape, and great ornamental appeal make it ideal for a number of landscaping areas.  The foliage is a nice deep green in color, giving the shrub a nice appearance through the growing season.  The Purple Pillar blooms in abundance from mid-summer into the fall.  The semi-double flowers are light lavender-purple, with a large reddish-purple center eye.  Ideal low maintenance, beautiful shrub for your landscape.

Additional Information

Hibiscus syriacus ‘Gandini Santiago’ grows to a height of 10 to 16 feet, with a spread of 2 to 3 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 9.  Purple Pillar tends to grow and flower best in full sunlight.  It does well with average amounts of moisture, in well drained soils.
