General Information
Swamp White Oak is a great tree that will do well in your landscape. It can grow to be a fairly large tree, reaching to 60 feet in height. Under proper conditions, it can grow up to 2 feet a year. It is a great tree for a larger lawn or in a park setting. The tree produces acorns, which come to maturity in the fall. The leaves have rounded lobes along the margins. The leaves are glossy and dark green in color, with a silvery-white underside. The turn yellow in the fall, sometimes with a reddish-purple tint.

Quercus bicolor grows to a height of 50 to 60 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 8. It tends to do best in full sunlight. Swamp White Oak grows well in average soils, in average to wet moisture conditions. Once established, it can have decent drought tolerance. It is overall a good, long lived shade tree.
