General Information
Manhattan Euonymus is a shrub that would look great in different areas of your landscape. This shrub was originally discovered in Manhattan Kansas, making a plant that can withstand cold, breezy winters and hot, muggy summers. It can be used in a variety of ways, as a hedge, border, naturalized area or even as a specimen of some form. It typically grows in an upright, rounded, multi-stemmed form. The leaves are 2 to 3 inches long and are oval to elliptical in shape. The leaves are glossy with a great dark green color. This foliage grows on this shrub all the way to the ground, giving it a good, full overall appearance. The flowers on the plant are inconspicuous, but bear fruit that matures to a great pink color in the fall.

Euonymus kiautschovicus ‘Manhattan’ grows to a height of 4 to 8 feet, with a spread of 4 to 5 feet. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 8. In the cooler climate zones of 5 and 6 this plant is generally deciduous, but is generally evergreen in the warmer climates. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Manhattan grows best in average, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture. It is tolerant of a range of soil and moisture conditions, anything but standing water. It has a good overall tolerance of urban conditions. Anthracnose, leaf spot and mildew can potentially be problems. Manhattan is said to have good resistance to euonymus scale.
