General Information
Variegated Maiden Grass is an ornamental, warm season grass. The grass is tall, growing to 6 feet, with seed plumes to 8 feet. It forms as a dense clump of grass, arching outwards at the top. It is a great plant for a variety of different landscaping areas. The leaves are long and wide, with an upright to arching form. They are green, with white edges and center rib. The flower plumes are open and airy, typically appear in September. The flowers are red in color, maturing to silvery seed plumes later in the fall.

Miscanthus sinensis 'Variegatus' grows to a height of 5 to 8 feet, with a spread of 4 to 5. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 9. Variegated Maiden Grass can grow well in full to partial sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
