In mid summer large, magenta pink flowers bloom above a tall mound of dark green foliage. The gorgeous, daisy like petals surround a coppery brown central cone. Dried seed heads will attract goldfinches and other songbirds.
Echinacea purpurea ‘Magnus’ will grow best in Full Sun to Part Shade. Light shade will help to darken the petal color. It will grow 30-36″ tall with a spread of 18-24″. Plant in zones 3 to 9. Echinacea plants were historically used by Native American Indians in traditional medicines. Can reseed in optimum conditions. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Heat and humidity tolerant. Easy to grow in average, well drained soil. Leaf miners and vine weevils may be pests. Gray mold, powdery mildew and bacterial spots may cause damage. Deadhead to encourage re-blooming.
