General Information
Borealis Honeyberry is a great plant that could fit well in your orchard or landscape area. This plant can grow to be up to 6 feet in height. These berries are great for northern growers, being cold hardy to zone 2. The plants tend to grow in a dense, upright fashion, giving the a good ornamental appearance in addition to its berry production. White flowers appear on the plant in early to mid spring. The berries follow and most usually ripen in the late spring time. The berries have a somewhat rectangular shape, similar to an elongated blueberry. The sweet, tangy flavor is also reminiscent of a blueberry. They can be eaten fresh, made into jams or preserves and have a variety of other cooking uses.

Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica 'Borealis' grows to a height of 3 to 6 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 2 to 7. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Borealis grows best in loamy soils, with average amounts of moisture. It has good disease and insect resistant qualities. This plant does require a pollinating partner in order to set fruit.
