General Information

The Hawaii Rose of Sharon is a great shrub that will fit well in many different areas of your landscape.  This grows to be a moderate sized shrub.  It is fast growing, multi-stemmed shrub growing in a largely upright fashion.  It can have different uses, from a foundation plant, as a hedge border plant or any place that a burst of great summer color is needed.  Although this shrub is most known for the flowers, it has great foliage as well.  The leaves are moderate in size, up to 4 inches long.  They have three lobes with widely serrated edges and distinct veins running down the center of each lobe.  They have a medium green color in growing season, with no appreciable fall color.  The flowers are quite beautiful, and 3 or more inches wide.  They have a wonderful blueish-purple color, with a dark red to maroon center, extending slightly along the veins in the flower.    These flowers bloom over a long season, from June to September.
