Description
Gem Box Inkberry Holly
General Information
Gem Box Holly is a evergreen shrub. It has a good deal of ornamental appeal. It is similar in appearance to a boxwood, making it a nice alternative in some areas. It is smaller in size, with a compact, rounded overall form. There are small white flowers in the spring, followed by dark berries in the fall. The leaves are small, but grow densely on the shrub. In the spring, they can have a nice red blush on the tips. The leaves are dark green in color, with a glossy appearance. They keep this attractive appearance all through the year.
Additional Information
Ilex glabra ‘SMNIGAB17’ grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA planting zones 5 to 9. It can grow well in full to partial sunlight. Gem Box does well with moderate amounts of moisture. Great deer resistant qualities!
