Fireside Ninebark
General Information
Fireside Ninebark is an ornamental deciduous shrub. It is of moderate size, growing to 7 feet tall. It grows in an overall upright and rounded shape. One of the ornamental features are the abundant springtime flower clusters. They are pinkish-white in color, contrasting well with the foliage. This foliage emerges with striking red color in the spring. They transition to reddish-purple for the rest of the growing season, before turning deep purple in the fall. Fireside Ninebark is perfect as an ornamental hedge or in other landscaping areas.
Additional Information
Physocarpus opulifolius ‘UMNHarpell’ grows to a height of 5 to 7 feet, with a spread of 4 to 6. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 7. It tends to grow best in full sunlight. Fireside does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Once established, it has shown good drought tolerance.
