Electric Red Dianthus
General Information
Electric Red Dianthus is a great perennial plant that will work well in different areas of your landscape. This plant forms as a low growing, compact mound of foliage. The foliage has a nice blue-green color and adds a nice contrast to the flowers held above. These flowers grow on strong stems above the leaves. The flowers are double with toothed edges, similar to pinking shears, which is where dianthus’s alternate name of ‘Pinks’ originates. The flowers have a beautiful bright red color. They bloom in the early summertime, with additional rebloom possible in the early fall. These flowers are great for attracting butterflies and bees.
Additional Information
Dianthus ‘Electric Red’ grows to a height of 8 to 10 inches, with a spread of 14 to 18 inches. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 9. It can grow in full to partial sunlight. Electric Red grows best in well drained soils with average amounts of moisture.
