General Information
Black Kodiak Diervilla is a deciduous shrub. It is moderate in size, with a good deal of ornamental appeal. It tends to grow in an overall rounded and upright form. The foliage of this diervilla is quite attractive. During the spring and fall months, it is a very nice burgundy-black in color. It is burgundy-green in color in the warmer summer months. This shrub also has clusters of bright yellow trumpet shaped flowers. These flowers bloom in the early summer, continuing over a long period. The flowers are very attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds!
Additional Information
Diervilla rivularis 'SMNDRSF' grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 7. Kodiak Black Diervilla can grow in full sunlight to full shade. However, the colors tend to be more vibrant in full to part sun. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Once established, it has good drought tolerance.
