General Information

Concorde Barberry is an ornamental deciduous shrub. It is smaller in size, growing 2 feet tall. Some care will need to be taken, as this barberry does have small thorns. This barberry has very ornamental foliage, and has an overall rounded form. It has small yellow flowers in the spring, but produce non-viable seed, making it a non-invasive variety of barberry. The small, densely growing leaves emerge bright red in the springtime. The leaves will transition to deep purple to dark greenish, before turning burgundy-red in the fall.

Additional Information

Berberis thunbergii ‘Concorde’ reaches a height of 18 to 24 inches, with a spread of 2 to 3 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zone 4 to 8. It tends to do best when planted in full sunlight. Concorde Barberry does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
