General Information
Blaze Little Bluestem Grass is a great plant that could be used in many different areas of your landscape. This is a shorter grass, growing to 3 feet in height. Little Bluestem grass is a native grass that was once widespread throughout the tallgrass prairies of the Great Plains. Blaze is a cultivar that has a great deal of ornamental value. This plant would work well in a border or bed, in a larger landscape area and would have spectacular effect for fall color as a mass planting. This grass grows in an upright fashion, narrow at the bottom, flaring out at the top. The leaves are narrow and flat and about one quarter of an inch wide. These leaves emerge in the spring with a bluish-green color, before transitioning to a green-grey in the summer months. They develop purple streaks in the late summer before turning wonderful colors of light orange, reddish-purple and bright red. In the summer, red-brown flowers appear on stems above the foliage, turning to seed pods with silvery hairs. These seed pods along with some foliage color can persist into the winter.

When your plant
