Baby Gem Boxwood

General Information

Baby Gem Boxwood is a smaller sized evergreen shrub, growing towards 4 feet tall and wide.  Perfect for borders, bed or as a low hedge.  Broad, overall rounded plant shape.  The foliage is small, but grows densely on all the branches.  The foliage keeps a nice deep green look all throughout the year.  They can take a bit of a brown tint in the winter time.  New growth emerges light green before transitioning.

Additional Information

Buxus microphylla japonica ‘Gregem’ grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet, with a spread of 4 to 5 feet.  It is recommended for USDA planting zones 5 to 9.  Tends to grow best in full sunlight.  Baby Gem does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  Once established, it is said to have good drought tolerance.  Trim or shape if needed in the springtime.
