General Information

Back in Black Sedum is a perennial plant. This tall sedum will have strong, upright stems and a very ornamental overall appearance. This plant would be a great choice for a variety of landscaping areas. The succulent leaves will be a beautiful deep purple to black in color. Some dark green tones can occur as the leaves age. Back in Black Sedum will have large flower clusters, beginning in the early fall. The flowers cream colored, with a small red center eye. This low maintenance perennial will be great for attractive pollinators!

Sedum 'Back in Black' is 20 to 24 inches tall, with a width of 26 to 30 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 9. Back in Black Sedum will tend to do best in full sunlight conditions. It will perform best with average or lower amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
