General Information

Prairie Blazing Star is a native perennial plant.  It has a native range from the central to southeastern United States.  It grows in an upright fashion, with leaves on the lower stems and flowers on the upper stem.  Long, up to 12 inch, narrow, densely growing leaves.  They are generally medium green in color.  Flower spikes, which can be up to 20 inches long, with small individual flowers.  They are fluffy in appearance with a rosy-lavender color.  The flowers bloom in the summer, opening from the top to bottom of the spike.  Great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds!

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
