General Information

Jackmanii Clematis is a very ornamental deciduous vine.  Clematis do grow best when grown with supports, on an arbor , trellis, or a variety of other options.  There are 3 different groups of clematis, on which flowers grow on old wood, old and new wood or on new wood.  Jackmanii can be grown as the second or third group.  While the flowers are the main attraction, the nice deep green foliage provides a nice appearance through the growing season.  The large, up to 7 inches wide, flowers bloom in abundance beginning mid summer.  They are a beautiful deep purple in color.

Additional Information

Clematis 'Jackmanii' grows to a height of 7 to 8 feet, with a spread of 3 to 6 feet.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  It tends to flower best in full sunlight.  Jackmanii does like to have a shaded or mulched root zone.  It tends to grow best with moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
