General Information
Nelly Moser Clematis is a great vine that could do well in many different landscape areas. This plant can grow up to 10 feet tall. Clematis falls into 3 different blooming categories, blooming on old wood, old and new wood and blooms on new wood. This plant is in the blooming on old and new wood category. It is most usually grown on a support of some form, such as a trellis, fence, post or pergola. It can be grown as a form of groundcover, over a stump or rock. The leaves provide a great backdrop for the flowers of this vine. They are moderate in size, with an oval shape and are dark green in color. The flowers are large, up to 8 inches wide, with 8 petals. These petals are light pink, with a reddish pink streak down the center, to go with purple-brown stamen at the center of the flower. These flowers bloom on old wood in the late spring, with blooms on new wood later in the summer. After the flowers have gone, seed pods develop.
Additional Information
Clematis 'Nelly Moser' grows to a height of 6 to 10 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 8. It grows best when the top growth of the plant is in full sun and the root area has some shade. Nelly Moser grows best in fertile, well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture. It can be pruned in the fall or spring, but doing this would cause the early flowering period to be potentially greatly reduced.

When your plant
