General Information

Jackmanii Superba Clematis is a perennial vine, with a great deal of ornamental value for your landscape.  This vine benefits greatly from growing on supports of some sort, a trellis or archway or anything it may be trained to grow upwards on.  Dense medium-green foliage provides a great backdrop for the flowers.  Abundant flowering, improved over the original Jackmanii, with large (5 inch) flowers.  The flowers have a velvety appearance and a deep purple color.  These flowers bloom from very late spring into the fall.  Silky seed heads follow the flowers.

Additional Information

Clematis 'Jackmanii Superba' grows to a height of 10 to 12 feet, with a spread of about 2 to 4 feet.  It is recommended for climate zones 4 to 8.  It can grow in full to partial sunlight.  This clematis can benefit from have a shaded root zone, but does do best when the flowering area is in full sunlight.  This is a Group 3 clematis, meaning it will only flower on new growth.  It can be trimmed near to the ground in the fall to late winter, before any new growth appears.

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
