General Information
Calamint is a delightful perennial plant. Overall, bushy in appearance with a slightly spreading form. Great for naturalized areas, or in landscaping beds. The foliage grows densely on the stems, giving the plant a nice full appearance. The leaves are grey-green in color. The leaves emit a nice fragrance when brushed or crushed. Small, tubular light lavender to white flowers grow on the stems. They bloom over a long season, from June through September. The flowers are quite attractive to bees.
Additional Information
Calamintha nepeta grows to a height of 12 to 18 inches, with a spread of 18 to 24 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 5 to 7. Calamint tends to grow best in full sunlight. It does best with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. Once established, it can do quite well in dryer conditions. It is not known to have any particular disease or insect issues. We treat your plant
like it's ours
- Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.
When your plant
arrives
- Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
