General Information

Large Coneflower is a perennial plant. It can grow to 6 feet tall, making this a very tall perennial! Its size and visual appeal make it a nice choice for naturalized areas, or a variety of other spaces. The foliage will be bluish-green in color. It grows in a clump at the base of the plant, with leaves growing up the tall stems. The flowers will be bright yellow in color, blooming in the summertime. The center cones can be larger, growing up to 3 to 4 inches tall. The flowers and center cone of the Large Coneflower are great for attracting pollinators and small songbirds!

Additional Information

Rudbeckia maxima will be 5 to 6 feet tall, with a width of 2 to 3 feet. This plant can slowly spread to eventually form a colony of plants. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 9. The Large Coneflower can grow in full to partial sunlight. It will grow well with average amounts of moisture in a variety of soils.

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
