General Information

Glass Gem Ornamental Corn is a nice choice for your garden.  It is a heirloom variety collected from Native American seed sources.  The ears are quite attractive.  They will be blue, purple, orange, yellow and red in color.  They also have a beautiful shiny or glass-like overall appearance.  They will be a great choice for fall decorating purposes or can have a variety of cooking uses.  Each of the seed packets will contain approximately 48 to 50 seeds.

Additional Information

Start seeds outside once temperatures stay above 55 degrees at night.  Plant in blocks of 3 to 4 rows to help with proper pollination.  It is best to plant ornamental and sweet corn a couple weeks apart or at a distance to avoid cross pollination.  The seeds germinate in around 7 to 10 days.  Ears will typically mature in around 100 to 110 days.

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
