General Information
California Native Orange Poppy is an attractive choice for your garden. The plant will form as a mound of feathery grey-green foliage. The flowers will bloom in abundance from spring to early summer. The flowers have a silky appearance, a nice golden-orange in color. After the flowers are spent, seed pods will form. If they are allowed to dry and fall, self seeding can happen in the next growing season.
Additional Information
The seeds are typically best seeded directly into the garden. Plant seeds 2 to 3 apart, covered by about a quarter inch of soil. Once established, thin plants to 3 to 4 inches to allow for full growth.

We treat your plant
like it's ours
- Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.
When your plant
arrives
- Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
