General Information

Gone with the Wind Prairie Dropseed is a perennial grass. This grass will have a nice overall form, with a great deal of ornamental appeal. It is a great choice for a variety of spaces in your landscape. The leaves are narrow and arching in form, with a nice green color. They will take red tones in the fall. Flower stems will grow above the foliage in the later summer. They will form airy tan colored seed heads. The seeds of the Gone with the Wind Prairie Dropseed are a nice source of food for smaller birds.

Additional Information

Sporobolus heterolepis 'Gone With The Wind' will be 36 to 48 inches tall, with a width of 18 to 24 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 3 to 9. Gone with the Wind Prairie Dropseed will grow best in full sunlight conditions. It will do well with average or lower amounts of moisture in well draining soils. Once established, this plant will have good drought tolerance.
