General Information
Blue Heaven Little Bluestem Grass is a great plant that would look great in many different areas of your landscape. It typically grows up to 4 foot tall. Little Bluestem grass is a native plant that was once widespread throughout much of the Great Plains. Blue Heaven is a cultivar that has a great deal of ornamental value. It grows in an upright fashion, narrow at the base and flaring out towards the top. The leaves are flat, long and narrow, to a quarter of an inch wide. The grass emerges with blue overtones in the spring, before transitioning to a slate-blue-green color. Purple highlights emerge late summer before turning shades of burgundy, pink and purple during the fall. In the summer months, red-brown flowers appear on stems above the foliage. Seed heads follow the flowers and are lined with silvery filaments. These seed pods add great ornamental value in the fall, persisting into the winter.

We treat your plant
like it's ours
- Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.
When your plant
arrives
- Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
