General Information
Dark Horse Weigela is a deciduous shrub. It is smaller in size, with a good deal of ornamental appeal. It forms in an overall rounded shape, growing densely, providing a very appealing plant all through the growing season. The leaves are a very nice bronze to dark purple in color, with lime green veining. The flowers are tubular in shape. with a very attractive magenta-pink color. They grow in profusion on the previous years' growth from mid to late spring. There can be scattered rebloom on new growth during the rest of the growing season. The flowers are great for attracting hummingbirds!

Weigela florida 'Dark Horse' grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8. Dark Horse tends to grow and flower best in full sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not known to have any disease or insect issues.
