General Information

The Prague Viburnum is a great shrub that could have different uses in your landscape.  It grows to a moderately large size, up to 10 feet tall.  The shrub is multi-stemmed, growing in an overall rounded fashion.  It can be planted in a larger landscape area or shrub border of some sort.  It works well as a screen hedge, due to its quick and dense growing habit.  The foliage on this shrub is great, remaining evergreen in all but the coldest and harshest winters.  The leaves are oval to elliptical in shape.  They are very glossy in appearance, with a dark green color on the top of the leaf and white tinted on the underside.   Large, up to 6 inch wide, clusters of flowers appear in the spring.  They are small individually, with a slight fragrance and nice white color.  After the flowers, berries will form, turning red before eventually maturing to a glossy black.  Birds are attracted to these berries, but the fruit otherwise can persist into the winter.

Additional Information

Viburnum 'Pragense' grows to a height of 8 to 10 feet, with a spread of 6 to 8 feet.  It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 8.  It can grow in full to partial sunlight.  Prague grows best in well drained soils with moderate amounts of moisture.  If possible, this shrub should be placed in a location protecting it from the harshest of the winter winds.  It is not known to have any disease or insect issues.

We treat your plant

like it's ours

  • Before your plant leaves our greenhouse, it’s wrapped and supported to handle the journey ahead. Pots are sealed to prevent spills, plants are gently netted and staked for stability, and boxes are packed with biodegradable peanuts to absorb movement along the way. Thoughtful packaging helps your plant arrive happy, healthy, and ready to grow.

When your plant
arrives

  • Plants may show signs of stress after shipping, such as bent stems or drooping leaves. This is normal. Prompt unpacking, proper watering, and a short recovery period in the shade help plants rebound quickly. Avoid heavy pruning and give your plant time to adjust as it establishes in your landscape.
