General Information
Alleghany Viburnum is a cross between V. rhytidophyllum and V. lantana 'Mohican' and was introduced by the National Arboretum in 1966. It features deep, green foliage and a compact habit. Flat clusters of yellow-white flowers bloom abundantly in spring. Bright, red berries follow the flowers, and turn black as they mature. Alleghany is a 'leatherleaf' type with wrinkled leaves that are darker green than other 'leatherleafs'. An attractive shrub to help control erosion on slopes and ditches. Plant as a specimen, shrub border, or group planting in your landscape.

Viburnum x rhytidophylloides 'Alleghany' grows best in Full to Part Sun. It will grow 8-10' tall with a similar spread. Plant in zones 5 to 8. Heat and drought tolerant. Attracts birds and butterflies.
