General Information
Gold Beret Sunjoy Barberry is an ornamental deciduous shrub. It is quite small, growing to one foot tall. Despite its small size, it has a good deal of ornamental appeal. The foliage grows densely, with a mounded overall shape. There are small yellow flowers in the spring time. The foliage will emerge reddish in the springtime, before transitioning to yellow to green in the spring and summer months. The leaves will take on very attractive reddish tones in the fall. This yellow-leaf barberry does better than most others in full sun conditions. It exhibits good resistance to deer.

Berberis thunbergii 'Talago' grows 6 to 12 inches tall, with a spread of 12 to 18 inches. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 7. Gold Beret Sunjoy Barberry tends to do best when planted in full sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.
