Wyldewood Elderberry

General Information

Wyldewood Elderberry is a delightful fruiting shrub.  It can grow fairly large, at up to 8 feet tall and wide.  Very ornamental, growing upright and rounded in overall shape.  Huge flower clusters in the spring, growing up to 12 inches wide.  Small individual flowers, white in color.  Berries form after the flowers.  Large clusters of black-dark purple berries maturing late summer.  Great for making wine, jam, juice and a variety of other uses. 

Additional Information

Sambucus canadensis ‘Wyldewood’ grows to a height of 5 to 8 feet, with a similar spread.  It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8.  Wyldewood can grow well in full to partial sunlight.  It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils.  Adaptable to a variety of soil conditions.  Needs a pollinating partner, York Elderberry work well.
