Watermelon Radish
General Information
Watermelon Radishes are a great choice for your spring garden. These heirloom radish seeds are from Renees Garden seed company. They are an Asian-style radish, growing a bit larger than the usual round red radishes, at 2 to 4 inches long. These radishes are quite similar to watermelons in overall appearance. They have a light green outer skin, with a pinkish to red interior. The radishes have a tangy to peppery flavor and a crunchy texture. They are great in salads or a variety of other cooking uses. The radishes store well when refrigerated. Each seed packet will weigh 2 grams and contains approximately 175 to 180 seeds.
Additional Information
These radishes are most often grown for fall harvest. They are planted June to July in cooler climates and June to August in warmer areas. The seeds should be planted 1/2 inch deep and 1 inch apart. Thin to 3 inch spacing to allow for proper growth. The seeds will germinate in 5 to 7 days. The Watermelon Radishes will typically reach maturity in 50 to 70 days.
