Wardii Yew

General Information

Wardii Yew is a low growing shrub with a flattened, spreading top. It has dark green needles, and red, berry-like fruits. The evergreen foliage, and cheerful berries provide good year round interest. Plant as an accent shrub, or in mass for a border or low-growing hedge.  Can be planted along slopes.

Additional Information

Taxus x media ‘Wardii’ grows best in Full to Part Sun.  It will grow 2-3′ tall with a spread of 6-8′.  Plant in zones 4 to 7. Tolerates air pollution.  Plant in an area where it is protected from strong winter winds to prevent winter burn. Rabbit resistant. Drought tolerant once established. All parts of this plant are POISONOUS if ingested!  Keep away from children and pets.

Care & Shipping Notes

Easy to grow in average, well drained soil. Moist, sandy loam is best, but will tolerate a variety of soil as long as there is good drainage. Root rot may occur if there is poor drainage. Can be pruned in early spring to maintain desired habit. No serious insect or disease problems.  Somewhat susceptible to blight. Mealy bugs, weevil and scale may be pests. NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI. Also, WE NO LONGER SHIP TO CALIFORNIA due to Department of Ag restrictions on live plants.
