General Information
Violet Filli Crape Myrtle is a great plant that would fit in many different areas of a landscape. It is a smaller size plant, much smaller than what is normal for a crape myrtle. This smaller size makes it a perfect plant to fit into many areas that need a good shot of color. It can be used in borders or beds, in mass plantings and is small enough to be used in a container. The leaves are quite small and oval to elliptical in shape. They have a medium green color and a dull to very light gloss. The flowers for this are long lasting and beautiful. They bloom from mid-summer all the way until the first frost. Violet Filli’s flowers small in size, blooming in clusters. They have a ruffled appearance, and a great violet color.

Lagerstroemia indica ‘Violet Filli’ grows to a height of 12 to 18 inches, with a similar spread. It grows best in full sunlight. It is recommended for climate zones 5 to 9. Violet Filli grows best in well drained soils with average to moderate amounts of moisture. In colder areas, crape myrtles tend to die back near the ground, especially in harsh winters. It can work best to trim the plants in any climate, as the flowers grow on new growth.
