Cardinal Candy Viburnum

General Information

Cardinal Candy Viburnum features showy, fragrant blooms that are creamy white. These lovely blooms emerge on the old wood in late spring to early summer. Ovoid, bright red drupes follow the flowers and persist through the winter. The fruits attract birds, but are not edible by humans.  The Cardinal Candy forms a dense, upright, rounded shrub.  It is free-branching. Russet red fall color. Enjoy the many seasons of interest with its showy spring flowers and unique branching. Excellent specimen for your lawn or landscape. Great for foundation plantings. Use as a border or hedge. Can be used in open woodland gardens.

Additional Information

Viburnum dilatatum ‘Henneke’ grows best in Full Sun to Part Shade.  It will grow 6 to 8 feet tall with a spread of 6 to 8 feet.  Plant in zones 4 to 8. Some drought tolerance once established.  Attracts birds and butterflies.  Very cold hardy. Deer resistant.

Care & Shipping Notes

Plant in average to moist, well drained soil.  No serious insect or disease problems. Can be fertilized in early spring. Prune to shape, immediately after flowering.  NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE IN THESE US STATES AND TERRITORIES: AK, HI, GM, PR, VI. Also, WE NO LONGER SHIP TO CALIFORNIA due to Department of Ag restrictions on live plants.
